She studied at the Sapienza University of Rome (literature and performance studies) and at Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, where she obtained the University Diploma (second level) as a dancer (1975) and the diploma as a choreographer (1978). She participates as a soloist and choreographer at the Spoleto Festival (1977) and Nancy (1978). In 1977-1978 she obtained a scholarship, together with Susanne Linke, to work as a soloist and choreographer in Essen’s Folkwanghochschule dance group (FTS). From 1978 to 2006 she was part of Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater where she worked as a soloist and artistic assistant.

Abstract

The article is composed of several parts. The first deals with Jean Cébron’s approach to dance; the second speaks of Jia Ruskaja and her Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome; the third is about the author’s approach to Cébron’s dance and their work together; the fourth the approach with Pina Bausch and the fifth the meeting of Jean and Pina in the author’s person. The author concludes with some titles of pieces created by Cébron.
