Alessandro Pontremoli is Full Professor of Performing Arts Disciplines at the University of Turin, where he coordinates the Performing Arts and Music curriculum of the Doctorate in Humanities. He is scientific referent of SCT - Social and Community Centre of Turin and member of the Knowledge Community of CCW - Cultural Welfare Centre of Turin. He is a member of the scientific committee of the journals "Comunicazioni Sociali", "Il Castello di Elsinore" and "Danza & Ricerca" and editor of "Mimesis Journal". His most recent publications include La Danza 2.0. Paesaggi coreografici del nuovo millennio (Laterza, Roma-Bari 2018); with Gerarda Ventura, La danza: organizzare per creare. Scenari, specificità tecniche, pratiche, quadro normativo, pubblico (Franco Angeli, Milano 2019); L’arte del ballare. Danza, cultura e società a corte fra XV e XVII secolo (Di Pagina, Bari 2021).

Abstract

Anna Sagna is one of the most interesting choreographers in the panorama of Italian dance in the second half of the 20th century, but despite her long and intense career and her undisputed and recognised importance from a choreographic and pedagogical point of view, her work has not yet been adequately appreciated. With this contribution we would like to try to fill a gap, at least partially, by offering an analysis of the early creative path (1970-1978) and the pedagogical thinking of a significant figure in the history of contemporary Italian dance.
