María Zambrano’s enlightened and poetic thought offers itself as a space for reflective confrontation between her philosophical vision and dance as a dimension of sensitive and aesthetic practice. The ‘knowledge of the soul’ that in the Spanish philosopher’s reflection is generated by overcoming the dichotomy between the ‘understanding’ based on the rational logos and the ‘understanding’ of the sensitive logos, between the knowledge of the mind and the knowledge of the heart, is also what dance promotes and produces. Dance, as the practice and perfecting of kinesthetic and reflexive capacities, sinks its meaning into the affirmation of corporeal knowledge as a dimension of the unity of body, mind and soul. The dancing body is therefore a body of poetic and dancing reason.
