The article proposes an exercise in vision by examining Tippeke and Ma mère l’Oye, two screendance works directed by Thierry De Mey. The same set of elements can be considered as significant in both films: the connection with the textual component, the wood as a symbolic tòpos, the feminine, the relationship with the acoustic material and the temporal dimension. With the aim of outlining their particular declination in each creation, the analysis uses the five definitions of choreographing offered by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in her lecture Chorégraphier Bach as keys to interpretation, crossing them with some musicological remarks and with some observations on video shooting and editing techniques, thus tracing a path between multiple references and meanings.
