Performing arts theorist, dramaturge, and curator. She is Research Fellow in the frame of ERC funded project «INCOMMON» at University IUAV of Venice, where she teaches “Curating Performing Arts”. Her theoretical interests range from contemporary theatre to politics of the voice, from dramaturgy to practices in curating. She has been invited to hold conferences and seminars in international research centres and Universities in Europe and Asia, North and South Americas. She is Romeo Castellucci’s closest theoretical collaborator and dramaturge, working with the director in Europe’s foremost theatres, museum and festivals. She is also collaborating as dramaturge with the Argentine director Lola Arias. She is the artistic curator of Atlas of Transitions Biennale for ERT (2018-2020).

Résumé

This essay traces the artistic trajectory of the Swiss choreographer Yasmine Hugonnet, whose research on presence unfolds territories varied by the ductility of the body and the plasticity of the phonatory-laryngeal system. Dance, understood as a poetic reasoning through dynamic postures germinated from each other, is the result of a process that becomes capable of undoing perceptive categories. The relationship between posture and voice reveals a "sonic body", a corporeality immersed in a space of acoustic suggestions that combines inner resonances, imagination and biology. The materiality of the voice and its irreducible externality are for Hugonnet «ways to travel in the flesh», activate energy currents within the body, and articulate an inorganic corporeality.
