This article seeks to explore the singularity of contemporary dance creation for young audiences, postulating that this address transforms choreographic approaches, increasing attention to the accessibility of works without compromising on artistic quality demands. To discuss these questions, we will look at the principles of reception of contemporary dance and its relationship to its audiences, and then make the link with the specificities of the young audience, based on literature on theatre for youth. We will then study the nature of the address for young audiences in contemporary dance through an interview with the choreographer Caroline Cornélis (compagnie Nyash, Belgium) and an analysis of three contemporary pieces from French-speaking Belgium.Downloads
