Abstract

During the first decades of the nineteenth century, Mirra, one of the most controversial Alfieran tragedies, was performed on the Milanese stages. Anna Fiorilli Pellandi and Carlotta Marchionni, as well as Carolina Internari and Maddalena Pelzet, performed this character with great success. However, Milan saw also a choreographic version of Mirra. In 1817 Salvatore Viganò creates a choreodrama on this subject. The principal character was performed by the great mime and dancer Antonietta Pallerini, defined by many as an actress. The paper aims to investigate the relationship between Mirra’s acted version and the danced one trough the analysis of its performer, highlighting constants and variations.
