After the census and the reorganisation of the documents of the Accademia Nazionale di Danza (AND) in Rome it was possible to analyse the archival nature of their papers. The documents found gave us insight into the history of the Institution’s foundation and made it possible to analyse the life of the founder Jia Ruskaja. This present contribution highlights the documentary heritage of the AND in its organic and complete form. For the first time unpublished materials are shown and described, both from the deposit phase, and the historical archive, showing particular attention to the private and public papers of the founder. Jia Ruskaja is the founder, the director, the promoter of the AND, her private life is in the public life of the AND and vice versa, the documentary heritage becomes, in this way, patrimonium principis - in which everything is invested.
