Abstract

Frontal and for museums dance, whereas the public assists to a performance made by professionals, versus participated, community, civil dance: this is the theme that divides the ample debate in the today's “post-dance” field, where prtictioners and scholars discuss about the contrast between the social dance from Anglo-Saxon culture and the dance to see how reactive but inactive spectators. Swarm works by Tino Sehgal and Accademia del gesto, di Virgilio Sieni, produced two parallel events in the city of Turin, in different ways, in different contexts, with different market. The active spectatorship must be put in conflicting resonance with that receptive spectatorship, today; the shared performance in situ against the ceremonial of the theater and his rites.
